| Although the principles of NLP have been effectively applied to psychological well–being, sport, and business, applications to education have been slower to materialise. Mostly in part, as some educators have never heard of NLP, and so, are unaware of the benefits that NLP brings to education.
Over the past three years there has been extensive work carried out introducing both the principles and applications of NLP to education. I myself have been heavily involved with that work; firstly with the creation and design of NLP Education Specific Models and secondly with the delivery of those said models through NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner level training focussed at educators.
NLP’s practical applications include understanding how we learn and developing strategies for both students and teachers to make use of accelerated learning techniques. By identifying better learning strategies using the NLP toolkit, we give students a far greater opportunity in life. Most learning patterns are processed unconsciously and therefore, before they can be modified, they must be identified. NLP offers techniques for identifying a student’s existing learning strategy and then teaching them an alternative strategy that will prove much more useful to them. Many of these strategies can be easily taught to students in both individual and group situations. NLP enables the students to know how to learn what they learn.
As we open our minds up to greater possibilities for better learning, we open up the possibilities for others to discover that often a few simple changes in our approach will produce quite extraordinary results for both teachers and students alike!
